There will be a memorial gathering in rememberance of Andrew Hill, who passed away from medical complications this past Saturday, at The Harbor Light Co. Supper Club & Bar on Friday, Feb. 10 at 11am.  All are invited to attend and share stories and good times with his family.

John McElevey - Accident with critical injuries

John McElevey was critically injured, after being pinned under a vehicle Tuesday 11//15/11. He was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital, Neurotrauma ICU Unit,8th Floor in Duluth, MN.  He sustained multiple injuries including many fractured ribs,pelvis,compound fracture to his foot and internal injuries.  He is conscious and able to communicate. He is surrounded by his wife Mary and family. His family would appreciate prayers for his recovery.

Bob passed away on April 4, 2011.  Bob lived in Cook County for many years prior to moving to Midland, Michigan to be close to his family.  Wife Lois (Backlund) and daughters Sue and Lynn have brought him "home" for burial.

Charles J. Futterer - Memorial Service - June 22

A memorial service for Charles J. Futterer will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at St. John's Catholic Church in Grand Marais.  Services will commence at 11:00 am in the Church followed by a luncheon downstairs at about noon.  Charlie passed away on February 25, 2011 at his winter residence in Russellville, Arkansas.

Marion Buckman - notice of death

Marion Corrine Buckman, 91, of Schroeder died Tuesday March 1, 2011, in the North Shore Care Center in Grand Marais.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sylvester "Buck"; daughter Carole; brother Robert; sister Grace; and granddaughter Brenda.

She is survived by her sons Robert (Rhonda), Larry (Cheryl), and Mark (Kathy), all of  Schroeder; Son-in-law Andrew Byholm of Grand Marais, 9 grandchildren, 9 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Zoar Luthern Church in Tofte on March 12th at 11:00am.


Charles J. Futterer - Notice of Death

Charles J. Futterer, 88, Grand Marais, died peacefully Friday, February 25, 2011 at his winter residence in Russellville, Arkansas,  He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Gerri) of Grand Marais, sister Charlotte Costello of Winimac, Indiana, daughter Karen (Mike Swindlehurst) Futterer of Grand Marais, sons Charles (Susan) of Grand Marais & Virginia, Bruce (Sherrye) of Russellville, Arkansas and Craig (Terri Simard) of Minneapolis.  Chuck and Gerri have ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with one more due any day.  A celebration of Chuck's life will be held in Grand Marais at St. John's Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 22, 2011.
